BSCW Version 4.5: a complete e-Collaboration Suite
OrbiTeam Software GmbH & Co. KG and Fraunhofer FIT present a new version 4.5 of the BSCW Shared Workspace System in February 2010. The new version of BSCW includes a revised user interface and a great number of new features such as a personal portal page for each user, appointment scheduling and Wiki integration.
The revised user interface (redesign of icons and action forms, integrated search field, enhanced preferences and configurability) allow for an even more efficient group collaboration with BSCW than ever. The improved usability comes along with a great number of new features and thereby completes the well-established BSCW groupware to an exhaustive web-based collaboration tool.

Bonn, March 18, 2011 - new release BSCW 4.5.4
The new BSCW version 4.5.4 is now available. The service release to the current BSCW version 4.5 contains many bugfixes as well as a new feature workspace maps for visualisation of workspaces and memberships.
The new workspace maps offer a graphical overview of one's shared workspaces and their members. A workspace map visualizes the relations between workspaces and their members as a graph with two kinds of nodes: workspaces and users.
Besides various bugfixes (cf. CHANGES for details) the most important changes include necessary adaptations for recent browser generations (support of Internet Explorer 9 and Firefox 4).
Bonn, December 22, 2010 - new release BSCW 4.5.3
The new BSCW version 4.5.3 is a service release to the current BSCW version 4.5 and contains a number of bugfixes as an extension of the administrator's interface.
A new feature has been added to the administrator's interface: BSCW administrators may now get an overview of all shared workspaces on the server. The overview includes information about workspace managers and overall size of the content. In addition per workspace details reveal information about members and their roles. Administrators may also check the accessible workspaces on a per user basis.
The new version also includes an improved installation support (Python 2.7, IIS7, 64bit etc.), updated java applet code certificates and a commandline archiving feature (for administrators). Further details on the various bugfixes and improvements are provided in the CHANGES file of the distribution.
Bonn, July 29, 2010 - release BSCW 4.5.2
The BSCW version 4.5.2 is a service release to the current BSCW version 4.5 and contains many bugfixes as well as enhancements, especially at the user interface:
- adaptive filters on different container types provide improved overview
- important functions are only a mouse-click away by using the new hover toolbar
- icons in main and action menu support user orientation
- the action menu can be opened using well-known right-click behaviour
- the dialogues can be moved on the screen
A new timeline view has been added: it provides a graphical overview of time related items (e.g. appointments, projects, tasks etc.). Similar to the individual user portal a new shared workspace portal has been implemented. That way users may share a common view on a shared workspace. Finally performance has been greatly improved by using advanced caching-mechanisms (especially for resources).
