Bonn, July 7, 2009 - Announcement of a service release BSCW 4.4.6

The new release BSCW 4.4.6 is a maintenance release and  - apart from bug fixes and other improvements - includes a new feature:  People Tagging.

Users may now tag other users with relevant keywords. While tagging content (like documents or blog entries) has been available in BSCW for a while, users, too, can now be tagged by other users. By tagging users experts for certain domains may be identified inside an organization and new relations among users can be established. In BSCW, user tags are displayed close by other contact data of a user.

We suggest to upgrade your BSCW server installation to the latest release at your earliest convience.

OrbiTeam Software GmbH & Co. KG and Fraunhofer FIT present a new version of the BSCW Shared Workspace System.  A number of new features – including Web 2.0 features such as Blogs, Tags, Communities and Wiki-like document based collaboration – complete the widely used BSCW groupware in its new version 4.4 to an even more comprehensive solution for web-based collaboration. 

Most Important Changes in Version 4.4

The most important changes in BSCW 4.4 include new features such as Blogs, Tags, Communities and Website Folders for a Wiki-like, document-based collaboration. Furthermore support for key management and integrated document encryption  as well as PIM synchronisation for MS Outlook complement the new version.  The "back end" of BSCW now features additional indexing support and integration of different single-sign-on mechanisms.
